Though estimates vary, it is generally accepted that, globally, the construction sector is responsible for around 40 per cent of total carbon emissions. To address this situation, and avoid the potentially catastrophic consequences of climate change, the World Green Building proposes nothing less than total decarbonisation of the built environment by 2050. To this end, […]

Navigating cladding and external facade specifications requires a clear understanding of regulatory frameworks and fire performance standards. This session takes a practical, compliance-focused look at cladding systems within the context of the NCC 2022. While subsequent code editions continue to emerge, the 2022 edition remains a critical reference for current compliance pathways across Australian jurisdictions. […]

Beyond the Surface: Rethinking Interior Materials in Contemporary Architecture takes a practical, design-led look at how engineered wood panels and surface technologies are selected and integrated into interior environments. We’ll explore how different material typologies, such as particleboard, fibreboard and compact panels, work together with decorative surface technologies to deliver performance, durability and design outcomes. […]

Thermal bridging occurs when heat bypasses insulation through more conductive materials or structural elements within the building envelope. While often considered a detailing issue, its impact extends far beyond individual components – influencing whole-building performance, energy efficiency and occupant comfort. In commercial buildings, unaddressed thermal bridging can reduce the effectiveness of insulation, increase heating and [...]
